URUMQI, July 9 (Xinhua) -- Northwest China's Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region, home to lush pastures, is one of China's key livestock production bases. The Ili River Valley, located on the northern slopes of the Tianshan Mountains, boasts abundant grassland resources. When summer comes, local herders take their livestock to summer pastures where grass is abundant. In the past, horses were the main means of transportation for herdsmen and their belongings, but now driving vehicles makes the migration of livestock easier and quicker. Meanwhile, the improvement of the infrastructure in the pastoral areas has brought continuous benefits to herders' daily lives.
